Svigermor revisited is a portrait of an actor in costume for a role he hasn’t played in years, inspired by a photo I took during the rehearsal period of a play in the spring of 2018. The portrait lies in the space between the role and the actor himself, as if he’s been caught in the moment he’s about to step onto the stage. His gaze is both fragile and determined at the same time, and it’s difficult to get a sense of exactly how he feels about being back in this role.
